The Redemption Chandelier
with recycled Elements

Redemption Definition: The action of being saved from distress, error, evil or captivity.

Inspired by the rusted discarded prison fencing from Robben Island, which symbolises the past hurt of apartheid.  And remembering the late great Nelson Mandela chose to forgive and redeem South Africa into a new error.  This chandelier symbolises that which was once broken or discarded can always be redeemed.

The pottery cups with gold on them also symbolises Kintsugi; the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with gold. As a philosophy, the Japanese treat breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.
